(Part 1) Peace and Beauty in Desert Silence

(Part 1) Over 3.5 years ago, I arrived at the amazing country of Jordan. One of the places that I visited was Wadi Rum, a valley made of sandstone and granite rocks rising from the desert. It’s been the film location for many films, especially ones set on Mars. Some well-known films include Lawrence of Arabia, Star Wars (Rise of Skywalker), and The Martian. Such places take you to another level of awe and joy. The beauty surrounding you is simply breathtaking. And in these moments, you realize how expansive the world is, how magically wonderful, how magnificently infinite. How fortunate we are that, no matter at what age, there is always so much more life to live. Also, I’m grateful for the wonderful people who help to take photos and videos of me, for me. Since I travel alone, it’s the wonderful strangers (some now no longer strangers) I meet along the way who help me capture these memories. SOLO HIKES. This time to the highest mountain on the peninsula of Attica: Mount Parnitha- located north of Athens.

2 tallest peaks on the mountain are also the tallest on the peninsula.

Karavola- 1413 m / 4636 feet: high enough to get snow in the winter.
Apparently you can’t actually get to the peak since it’s now a military base.
🤷🏻‍♀️Didn’t know that at first- but ohhhhh- that’s why there’s no path shown on the maps.

Ornio: 1351 m / 4432 ft asl.
A tower of sorts with lots of wires and antennas. But dazzling views.

It was a breathtakingly beautiful, peaceful, and spiritual experience.

Nothing like the views and emotions when standing at the summit, overlooking the world below, and feeling overwhelming gratitude and awe of being alive.

Music: “Born for this” – Evocativ
